Rules & Guidelines

House rules that keep the turf in good shape and the games fair, plus the playing format for every sport at BOXPARK. Read them once — then just play.

The house rules.

These apply to every court, every turf and every slot — whichever sport you have come to play.

Booking & Payment

  1. Slots are confirmed only after an advance booking is acknowledged by us on call or WhatsApp. A message with no reply from our side is not a confirmed slot.
  2. Every booking is for one slot on one turf or court. Your slot starts and ends at the booked time, whatever time you actually walk in.
  3. Please arrive 10 minutes before your slot so you can change and warm up. Play stops on time so the next team can start on time.
  4. Arriving late does not extend your slot, and the balance is still payable in full.
  5. Extensions are possible only if the following slot is free, and are charged at the standard rate for that time band.
  6. Rescheduling is allowed once per booking with at least 4 hours' notice, subject to availability on the new date.
  7. Cancel with 4 or more hours' notice and your advance is held as credit for a future slot. Under 4 hours, or a no-show, and the advance is forfeited.
  8. We are open 24 hours a day, all week. Peak-hour slots (7 PM – 12 AM) and weekend slots may require a larger advance. We will tell you the amount at the time of booking.
  9. Bookings are not transferable to another party without our confirmation.

Footwear & Kit

  1. Turf shoes or flat rubber-soled sports shoes only on the playing surface. This is the single rule we enforce hardest — the turf is the most expensive thing here.
  2. Metal studs, screw-in studs, spikes, firm-ground football boots, sandals, formal shoes and bare feet are not allowed on the turf.
  3. On the basketball court, non-marking soles only. Any shoe that leaves a black scuff will be asked off the court.
  4. Change into your playing shoes at the entrance, not on the turf. Street shoes carry grit that shreds the fibres.
  5. Shin guards are strongly recommended for football and mandatory for academy sessions.
  6. Remove watches, rings, chains and any hard jewellery before you play. Spectacle wearers should use a strap.
  7. A limited set of venue equipment is available at the counter against a refundable deposit and must be returned at the end of your slot.

On the Playing Surface

  1. Water only inside the cage. No food, chewing gum, glass bottles, energy drinks, soft drinks or anything coloured — a spilled drink stains turf permanently.
  2. Smoking, tobacco, paan, alcohol and any intoxicant are strictly prohibited anywhere on the premises.
  3. Betting, gambling and any form of wagering on games are not permitted.
  4. Do not sit, climb, swing or hang on the nets, fencing, poles, goal frames or hoops.
  5. Do not move goals, stumps, nets or hoops yourself. Ask a staff member and we will do it.
  6. Pets are not allowed inside the playing areas.
  7. Bins are provided at the entrance. Carry your bottles and wrappers off the turf when your slot ends.
  8. Music is welcome at a reasonable volume. If the team on the next turf can hear your speaker over their own game, it is too loud.

Safety & Liability

  1. All sport carries risk. You play at your own risk, and BOXPARK and Karni Sports Club are not liable for any injury sustained while playing or on the premises.
  2. Warm up before you play. A large share of turf injuries are pulled muscles in the first five minutes.
  3. Anyone with a heart condition, asthma, a recent injury or any medical condition should inform our staff before playing and carry their own medication.
  4. Players under 16 need a parent or guardian's consent to book. Under-12s must have an adult present on the premises.
  5. Report any injury, however minor, to a staff member immediately. A first-aid kit is kept at the counter.
  6. Report damaged nets, loose fencing, broken lights or any hazard the moment you notice it — do not try to fix it yourself.
  7. If floodlights, power or weather make play unsafe, our staff's decision to stop the game is final.

Conduct & Spectators

  1. Play hard, play clean. Abusive language, aggression, fighting or harassment of any kind means immediate removal without refund and a ban from the venue.
  2. Treat our staff, the coaches and the team on the next turf with respect. There is no version of this rule we bend.
  3. Settle your own disputes on the field. Our staff will step in only for safety, timings or damage.
  4. Spectators must stay in the seating and standing areas outside the cage and off the playing surface.
  5. Keep the entrance and walkways clear so the next group can get in and out.
  6. We may photograph or film at the venue for our own promotion. Tell a staff member before your slot if you would rather not appear, and we will keep you out of frame.

Damage, Weather & Belongings

  1. Damage to turf, nets, fencing, lights, goals, hoops or any equipment beyond normal play is charged at actual repair or replacement cost to the person who booked the slot.
  2. The booking party is responsible for the conduct of everyone they bring, players and spectators alike.
  3. BOXPARK is not responsible for money, phones, vehicles or belongings lost, damaged or stolen on the premises. Lockers are not provided — carry valuables with you.
  4. If rain or a power failure stops play in the first half of your slot, we reschedule the whole slot at a mutually convenient time.
  5. If it stops play after the halfway point, the slot is treated as played. We will always try to accommodate you, but we cannot guarantee a free replacement.
  6. Cash refunds are not issued for weather interruptions; the value is held as credit against a future booking.
  7. Anything left behind is kept at the counter for 7 days. After that we cannot hold it.

THE SHORT VERSION

Turf shoes on. Water only inside the cage. Turn up ten minutes early, finish on time, take your rubbish with you, and treat the staff and the other teams the way you would want to be treated. Everything above is just the detail.

Default house formats for social games. Teams are welcome to agree their own variations before the toss or kick-off — just settle it before you start, not at 8–8 in the last over.

HOW WE PLAY IT

  1. Toss decides the innings. Both captains agree the over count and any house variations before the first ball.
  2. Tennis or rubber ball by default. A season or leather ball is allowed only with our staff's approval, and then batting pads, gloves and a helmet are compulsory.
  3. Bowling may be overarm or underarm as agreed at the toss. In mixed and beginner games we recommend underarm.
  4. One-tip-one-hand catches count as out when both captains agree it before the game. Otherwise, normal catching rules.
  5. A ball caught off the side or back nets is not out — only clean catches off the bat count.
  6. A ball that strikes the roof netting on the full is a dead ball: no runs, no wicket, and it is re-bowled.
  7. Runs off the side nets are counted as run. Clearing the marked boundary line on the bounce is 4; on the full is 6.
  8. There is no LBW in box cricket here. Bowled, caught, run out, stumped and hit-wicket all stand.
  9. Wides and no-balls are one run plus a re-bowl. In games of 6 overs or fewer, teams may agree to skip the re-bowl to stay inside the slot.
  10. A batter may be asked to retire at 30 in social games so everyone gets a hit. Retired batters can return once the innings runs out of players.
  11. Last-man batting with a runner is allowed if both captains agree at the toss.
  12. No fielder may stand inside the marked bowler's run-up zone. Keep the non-striker's end clear.
  13. Do not drag or reposition the stumps yourself. Ask our staff.

HOW WE PLAY IT

  1. No slide tackles. None. On a caged turf they injure players and tear the surface. A slide tackle is an automatic free kick, and a second one means the player sits out the rest of the game.
  2. Goalkeepers may slide within their own area to save the ball, provided it is a genuine attempt on the ball and not on a player.
  3. Offside is not played. Standing permanently on the goalkeeper's toes is, however, an unwritten rule you will hear about.
  4. Restarts from the side are kick-ins or roll-ins from the line, not throw-ins. The ball must be stationary and opponents stand 2 metres back.
  5. A ball that hits the roof net is out of play. Restart is a kick-in to the team that did not touch it last, taken from the side nearest to where it struck.
  6. Side and back nets are live — the ball stays in play off them unless it goes above the netting line.
  7. The goalkeeper may not pick up a deliberate back-pass from a team-mate's foot. Indirect free kick from the edge of the area.
  8. Keeper distribution is unrestricted unless both teams agree to a below-head-height rule before kick-off.
  9. No shoulder-charging or pushing a player into the fencing. This is treated as dangerous play, not a fair challenge.
  10. Rolling substitutions are unlimited and may be made at any stoppage, at the halfway line, with the outgoing player off first.
  11. All free kicks are direct unless awarded for a back-pass or an indirect offence. Defenders retreat 5 metres.
  12. Shin guards are strongly recommended, and mandatory for anyone under 16.
  13. Teams referee themselves in social games. If nobody can agree, the ball is dropped and play restarts.

HOW WE PLAY IT

  1. Non-marking indoor soles are compulsory. Any shoe leaving black marks comes off the court.
  2. Never hang on the rim. Dunking is fine if you can; hanging, swinging or pulling on the ring is a damage charge and an immediate end to your session.
  3. Full-court games run 4 quarters of 10 minutes with a running clock, stopping only for injuries and time-outs.
  4. Half-court games play first to 21, win by 2, scoring 1 point inside the arc and 2 beyond it.
  5. Half court is make-it-take-it by default: the scoring team keeps possession. Teams may agree to alternate possession instead.
  6. After a defensive rebound or a steal in half court, the ball must be cleared behind the arc before a shot counts.
  7. Every possession starts with a check-ball at the top of the key.
  8. In social games players call their own fouls. The call stands; if it is genuinely disputed, replay the possession rather than argue it out.
  9. Standard travelling, double-dribble and backcourt violations apply. A closely-guarded player has 5 seconds to pass, shoot or drive.
  10. Rings, chains, watches and hard bracelets must come off before you step on court.
  11. Two intentional fouls, or any deliberate contact away from the ball, and the player sits out.
  12. Balls are available at the counter. Do not use a scuffed outdoor ball on the court surface.

HOW WE PLAY IT

  1. The serve is underhand, struck below waist height, with both feet behind the baseline, and travels diagonally into the opposite service court.
  2. The double-bounce rule: the serve must bounce before the receiver returns it, and that return must bounce before the serving side plays it. Only after those two bounces may anyone volley.
  3. The non-volley zone — the kitchen — is the 7-foot strip either side of the net. You may not volley while standing in it or on its line, and momentum must not carry you into it after a volley.
  4. You may enter the kitchen freely to play a ball that has bounced.
  5. Only the serving side scores. Lose the rally and you lose the serve, not a point.
  6. In doubles, both partners serve before the side is out, except for the very first service turn of the game.
  7. Call the score before every serve: your score, their score, and in doubles the server number.
  8. Faults are: serving into the net or wrong court, hitting out of bounds, volleying from the kitchen, and breaking the double-bounce rule.
  9. A ball landing on any line is in, except the kitchen line on a serve, which is a fault.
  10. Players call the lines on their own side. If you are not sure, the ball is in.
  11. Paddles and balls are available at the counter against a deposit. Wooden or damaged paddles are not permitted on court.

ACADEMY GUIDELINES

  1. Fees are payable monthly in advance and are not pro-rated for missed sessions.
  2. Attend in the academy uniform with proper footwear, shin guards for football, and your own water bottle.
  3. Report 10 minutes before the session for warm-up. Players arriving after the warm-up may be asked to sit out for safety.
  4. Inform the coach in advance about any injury, illness or medication.
  5. Parents and guardians watch from the spectator area. Please leave the coaching to the coach during the session.
  6. Guardians must drop off and collect players punctually. We cannot supervise players outside session hours.
  7. Persistent indiscipline, or any disrespect toward a coach or team-mate, can end a player's place in the batch.
  8. Selection for tournaments and representative teams is entirely at the coaches' discretion.
  9. Photographs and video from sessions may be used for academy promotion. Tell the coach in writing if you would rather your child was not included.

Before you book.

How do I book a slot at BOXPARK?

Call or WhatsApp us on +91 82093 25167 or +91 63772 35466 with your date, preferred time and sport. We will confirm availability and the advance amount. A slot is confirmed only once we have acknowledged it — a message with no reply from us is not a booking.

What are your timings?

BOXPARK is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You can book a slot at any hour — including late-night and early-morning games. Evening slots from 7 PM onwards are the busiest, so book those a few days ahead.

Which sports can I book right now?

Turf cricket and turf football are open for bookings today. Basketball, pickle ball and the cafe are opening shortly — call us and we will tell you where they are.

What footwear is allowed on the turf?

Can I bring my own bat, ball or equipment?

What happens if it rains during my slot?

If play stops in the first half of your slot, we reschedule the entire slot at a time that suits you. If it stops after the halfway point, the slot counts as played. We do not issue cash refunds for weather, but the value is held as credit against a future booking.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancel with 4 or more hours' notice and your advance is held as credit for a future slot. Under 4 hours, or a no-show, and the advance is forfeited. You can reschedule once per booking with at least 4 hours' notice, subject to availability.

Is there parking at the venue?

Yes — free on-site parking for cars and two-wheelers, at the owner's risk. Please keep the entrance and walkways clear.

Do you host tournaments and corporate events?

We do. Box cricket tournaments, 7-a-side football, corporate leagues and private events are all possible, and we can put together formats, scheduling and multiple slots. Call us with your dates and team count.

Can children play at BOXPARK?

Yes. Players under 16 need a parent or guardian's consent to book, and under-12s must have an adult present on the premises. Our football and basketball academies run dedicated coached batches for younger age groups.
